Congresswoman Elaine Luria today sent a letter to the U.S. Department of the Treasury urging it to expedite the release of guidance on how localities can use the funding included in the American Rescue Plan Act, the $1.9 trillion economic recovery package signed into law March 11 which provided $1,400 direct payments to eligible Virginians, expanded the Child Tax Credit for working families, and secured billions in aid for schools and local governments.

Rep. Luria pressed Admiral Craig S. Faller, Commander, U.S. Southern Command, about the Navy’s decision to decommission the first four ships in this class despite the pressing need to grow the fleet against the backdrop of Chinese and Russian aggression, including in the Western Hemisphere.
