Congresswoman Elaine Luria Discusses COVID-19 Response with Virginia Department of Health and Sentara Health Officials
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria visited Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital to speak about local efforts to combat COVID-19 with leadership from the hospital and the Virginia Department of Health.
During her tour, Congresswoman Luria observed the hospital’s testing and screening procedures to better understand the challenges that frontline workers are experiencing.
“Today, I had the opportunity to hear directly from frontline health care workers about the response to COVID-19,” said Congresswoman Luria. “While I am impressed with Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital’s preparations and planning, we must ease the burdens on our health system by exercising caution and abiding by CDC and WHO guidelines. This is a public health emergency like none of us have ever seen in our lifetime, and it will take personal sacrifices on everyone’s part to overcome this pandemic together.”
Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where she is the Vice Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where she serves as Chair of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee.
