Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria issued the following statement on the House’s passage of a short-term continuing resolution.

“While I would have preferred to pass all 12 appropriations bills under regular order and on time, I supported the continuing resolution because a government shutdown would be disastrous for Coastal Virginia. I am optimistic that House and Senate leadership can find common ground and produce a final omnibus spending package that will give certainty to our armed forces, federal employees, and all Americans.”

Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where she is the Vice Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where she serves as Chair of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee.
